Depending on how your system is set up, you can use either Time Management or Post History for the purposes of FTE calculation.

  Note:

If you are using the Time Management Work Pattern form instead of the Post History Work Pattern, you cannot choose the calculation method Contract Hours.

  1. Time Management: Within Time Management, you can choose either Direct Entry or Based on Work Pattern to calculate the FTE factor.
Go to: Employment record> Forms> Time Management> Work Pattern History pane.
  2. Post History: Within Post History, you can choose either Based on Contract Hours, Direct Entry or Based on Work Pattern to calculation the FTE factor.
Go to: Employment record> Forms> Post History> Work Pattern tab

What are the FTE calculation methods?

Based on Contract Hours:
Go to: Employment record > Post History > Work Pattern tab
Use the Based on Contract Hours method to automatically calculate the FTE Factor based on hours and weeks. You can use this method in the Post History form only.

Example:

An employee works 17.5 hours in a post whose full time Job hours are 35. The value in the Hours Worked Per Week field is defaulted to 17.5. If you base the calculation method on Contract Hours, the resulting FTE factor is 0.5 (displayed after you save this record).

  Note:

The values derived from the Job column are based on the Standard Working Time set in the Job Summary form. For more information, see Standard Working Time.

Direct Entry:  Use the Direct Entry method if you have an employee who doesn’t follow any of your standard post working hours or working pattern FTEs. You can manually enter the FTE Factor value of your choice directly on to the Insert Employee Post FTE form. You can use this method in Time Management and Post History.
Based on Working Pattern:  Use the Based on Working Pattern method if you want to use the FTE Factor that is set up in the Work Patterns Details form within Employer Settings> Work PatternsYou can use this method in Time Management and Post History

  Note:

As far as FTE calculations for payroll are concerned, these FTEs in the Employee Post record will be directly used to relate to pay.
